Who We Are

Founded in September 1993, Systems East Inc. (SEI) is a distinguished leader in the field of custom instrumentation and process control systems. We excel in the design, application, manufacture, and electrical installation of these systems for the municipal water and wastewater, industrial, transportation, and OEM markets.

Our team has extensive experience in process instrumentation, pump control systems, process equipment control, and variable frequency drive systems. We specialize in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Operator Interface (OIU), SCADA systems and plant-wide communication networks.

SEI holds Class A electrical contractor licenses in Virginia and North Carolina, with an Electrical (ELE) classification. SEI is also a UL508-certified Control Panel Manufacturer with our state-of-the-art, 20,500 SF facility located in the Langley Research Park in Hampton, Virginia.

Systems East Inc. operates in a modern 20,500 SF Facility including office space, a manufacturing floor, and an electrical warehouse conveniently located in the Langley Research Park in Hampton, Virginia.

Core Specializations

Control Systems Integration

Our company has decades of combined expertise across a range of control platforms and process instrumentation systems. The design, assembly, and wiring of all custom control panels and motor control centers are carried out entirely at our exclusive Hampton, Virginia, facility.

The centralized approach allows SEI to efficiently design, build and implement intelligent control solutions for our customers and producing the highest quality custom control panels and equipment. Each panel undergoes rigorous testing by our field technicians, programmers, and UL certification by our QC technicians before shipment. We also provide on-site start-up service, calibration, and commissioning of control systems post-installation.

SEI maintains its UL508 certification to deliver high-quality industrial control panels. Our UL labeled control panels are installable to the National Electric Code (NEC) providing a distinct competitive edge in the marketplace. While our core experience has made its mark in the municipal water and wastewater sectors, our capabilities extend our control solutions to other industries including bridge and tunnel facilities and OEM equipment controls.

Electrical Installation

Our electrical department is fully equipped to provide electrical construction installation services for new construction, facility upgrades, maintenance and emergency response. SEI holds Class A Electrical Licenses in both Virginia and North Carolina.

While Systems East Inc. excels in the electrical installation of our manufactured control systems, the expertise of our electrical management personnel spans a wide array of project types, including industrial, government facility, and municipal installations. 1993

Systems East Inc. (SEI) was founded as a systems integration firm in September 1993 in Newport News, VA. Initially, the primary focus was on the water and wastewater industry to provide pump control systems, custom PLC plantwide controls, process controls, and supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA).

Our customers included general contractors building new facilities as well as municipalities updating existing infrastructure. The company quickly established its reputation as a successful subcontractor and supplier, quickly expanding its sales share year over year.

1997

SEI obtained a Class A Electrical License, expanding our capability to provide electrical installation services for our manufactured control equipment and allowing the company to bid directly as a Prime Contractor to municipal and industrial customers.

2000

Systems East Inc. employed over 30 dedicated professionals and relocated to a larger, more advanced facility in Hampton, VA. Our offerings now included electrical construction for new pump station installations and upgrades to tunnel facilities throughout the region.

2010

Growth continued as a prime contractor providing electrical upgrades and installing remote telemetry units for municipal pump station projects across Virginia and Eastern North Carolina. Throughout the state, SEI completed numerous large-scale treatment plant process control projects for the cities of Richmond, Hanover, Charlottesville, Roanoke, Massaponax, and Fairfax County.

2015

SEI was awarded a $20M multi-year turnkey project to replace the City of Virginia Beach's Water/Wastewater Telemetry Systems across over 400 facilities. This year also marked the supply of our first electrical E-house, designed for installation at a Rolls Royce Engine Test Facility in Indianapolis, Indiana. The E-house was fully equipped with electrical distribution equipment, ABB Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), HVAC, lighting, and alarm systems.

2020

Our Hampton facility expanded with 12,000 square feet worth of new manufacturing floor space. SEI also grew its tunnel facility business this year and secured contracts to upgrade electrical and control systems for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Authority.

2024

Today, with 31 years in business, over 2,500 completed projects, continuous improvement to our management systems, and investment in personnel, SEI stands prominent in the Greater Hampton Roads area. We offer our systems in over 1,500 facilities throughout the Tidewater Region, including the Hampton Roads Sanitation District. As we continue to expand our market share as a prime contractor, we look forward to a future of sustained growth and success.
